How to Pick the Right Farming Spot
Farming efficiency in Ragnarok: The New World depends on three factors: mob density, respawn rate, and drop value. A location with high mob density and fast respawn lets you maintain constant combat without downtime, maximizing experience and basic drop income. A location with slower spawns but higher-value drops may provide better Zeny per hour despite lower kill volume.
The optimal farming spot depends on whether you prioritize experience, Zeny, or specific rare drops. During the early and mid-game, farm for experience because leveling unlocks better farming spots and higher income potential. In the late game, farm for Zeny to invest in refinement and equipment that enable endgame content.
Always check the in-game Recommended list first — it reflects the current Energy reward multipliers. Once you know a specific card or material you need, target the map that drops it. For class-specific solo farming routes, see Solo Farming by Class.

Level 10–30: Izlude and Prontera Surroundings
The fields immediately surrounding Izlude and Prontera provide the first productive farming areas. During this bracket, prioritize following the main story quests rather than dedicated farming — the quest rewards provide better total value than grinding these early areas.
| Location | Mob Types | Drop Value | Best Class |
|---|---|---|---|
| South Izlude Fields | Poring, Fabre | Low | Any |
| Izlude East Gate | Lunatic, Chonchon | Low-Medium | Mage |
| Coastal Path | Roda Frog, Drops | Low | Swordsman |
| Prontera South Gate | Soldier Skeleton, Archer Skeleton | Medium | Knight (Bowling Bash) |
| Prontera Fields West | PecoPeco, Muka | Medium | Mage (Fire Wall) |
The Prontera South Gate area is particularly valuable for Knights using Bowling Bash, as skeleton mobs cluster naturally and respawn rapidly. The Mage benefits from Geffen area mobs that funnel well through Fire Wall kill zones.
Level 30–50: Sunken Ship, Orc Dungeon, and Clock Tower
Around level 30, AoE damage starts becoming noticeably stronger than single-target grinding. This bracket is where Mage and Wizard pull ahead as the dominant farmers, while Knights and Hunters establish their own efficient patterns.
Sunken Ship Level 1 remains one of the strongest locations at this bracket. Pirate Skeletons and Hydras cluster in narrow hallways, allowing Fire Wall to bunch enemies for multi-hit Meteor Storm casts. The narrow corridors also work for Hunter Trapper layouts and Gunslinger burst windows.
Orc Dungeon 01 starts becoming viable around level 40. Orc Zombies and Orc Skeletons aggressively chase players, removing the manual pulling normally required. Auto-battle performs exceptionally well here because monsters naturally group themselves. Bring Fire or Holy elemental attacks to significantly speed kills. Orc Archer card is a valuable drop that Soul Destroyer players specifically farm from this dungeon.
Clock Tower Area serves as the transition point for Mage players moving toward Meteor Storm competency. High mob density and reasonable respawn rates make it viable through the 50s.
Level 50–70: Advanced Zones and Desert
At this bracket, experience requirements begin climbing noticeably. Monster density still matters, but base EXP per kill becomes increasingly important. The Sograt Desert manages to balance both — excellent EXP values, useful refinement materials, consistent Zeny generation, and comfortable monster spacing.
| Location | Mob Types | Drop Value | Best Class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sograt Desert | Sidewinder, Sandman | High | Gunslinger, Hunter, Sniper |
| Sphinx Dungeon | Matar, Sidewinder | High | Mage (Storm Gust) |
| Glast Heim | Wraith, Evil Druid | High | Mage (AoE), Knight |
| Payon Cave | Zombie, Skeleton | Medium-High | Priest, Wizard (Holy) |
Sphinx Dungeon is perfect for players using favorable elemental damage. Enemy behavior is predictable, making rotations smooth and potion usage relatively low. Glast Heim offers stronger rewards but significantly tougher enemies — farming becomes expensive due to potion costs if your defensive stats are not ready.
Level 70+: Endgame Farming
Endgame farming focuses on specific resource targets rather than general mob grinding. At this stage, your farming activities align with specific needs: MVP materials for crafting, rare card drops for equipment, or pure Zeny generation through high-density mob farming.
Rachel Sanctuary is where serious grinders spend much of their time at 71+. It combines excellent experience gains with valuable card drops that remain highly desirable in the player economy. Monster movement also works in your favor — groups naturally cluster together, making every AoE cast more efficient.
One mechanic many newer players overlook is the shared contribution system: as long as you deal at least one hit before a monster dies, you still receive full experience and drops — even if another player does most of the work. During peak hours, positioning yourself near powerful farming groups dramatically increases leveling speed without joining their party.
