Acolyte / Priest is the essential support class in Ragnarok: The New World, rated A tier because every serious party, MVP group, and GvG roster needs reliable heals, resurrections, and buffs. Priests keep teams alive through burst damage, cleanse debuffs, and turn fragile DPS classes like Wizard into sustainable farming machines.
Two viable paths exist: Full Support Priest for parties and guild content, and Battle Priest for solo Holy magic AoE farming. This guide covers both, including stat allocation, skill priorities, and how support mains fit into Job Freedom when your guild needs a dedicated healer. Compare roles on the all classes overview.
Full Support Priest Build
Stats: INT primary for heal power and SP pool, VIT secondary for survivability when aggro slips onto you, DEX tertiary for cast speed. AGI is unnecessary for standard support.
Skills: Max Heal, Increase AGI, Blessing, Magnificat, and Resurrection before luxury buffs. Safety Wall or Pneuma protect backlines in GvG. Kyrie Eleison absorbs fixed damage hits on focused allies. Support Priests rarely attack—your value is keeping Knights alive during pushes and enabling faster dungeon clears.
Battle Priest Build — Solo Farming
Stats: INT primary for Holy magic damage, STR or DEX secondary depending on whether you hybrid melee basics, VIT for survivability during pulls. Battle Priests sacrifice peak heal potency for AoE damage skills like Magnus Exorcismus (when available) or Holy light magic combos.
Battle Priest clears undead and demon maps efficiently—classic Ragnarok design that rewards element advantage. You will not match Wizard mob density speed, but you solo content without needing a party while still being able to respec into full support for guild events via free Job Freedom resets.
Party Play, MVP, and GvG Support
In MVP parties, position behind tanks, pre-cast buffs before pull, and track heal cooldowns for tank busters. Carry blue potions aggressively—running dry mid-fight loses the entire run. Communicate silence and dispel needs when bosses apply debuffs.
GvG Priests are priority targets. Stack damage reduction, status resistance, and VIT to survive assassin dives. Coordinate with guild leadership on resurrection targets and defensive skill timing. A good Priest multiplies guild effectiveness more than adding another DPS would.
Gear and Job Freedom for Support Mains
Staves or maces with INT and heal power enchants define support gear. Reduce variable cast time where possible. MVP/GvG sets prioritize survival over damage. Battle Priests add Holy element and INT damage cards for undead farming maps.
Job Freedom makes Priest viable as a second class: farm zeny as Gunslinger, swap to Priest when your guild schedules war, then swap back after the event. Keep separate weapon sets for support and battle builds in storage. Review the tier list to time your swaps with meta shifts.
